Each of us is a malleable subject to be shaped and formed.
We are wired for connection to ourselves and others.
To fully experience connectedness, we often must adapt and push ourselves beyond the proverbial ‘comfort zone.’
Rarely is that process straightforward or comfortable.
The truth is that most good stuff in life takes time, effort, and commitment.
It isn’t easy.
Statistically, we are more disconnected than ever, which is ironic considering we have more ways to connect.
What are we missing?
My own journey of discovery began by helping others first. Like many, it was easier to show up for someone else than it was myself.
That role has been deeply fulfilling and become a cornerstone for a balanced life, but the real depth of character developed when I started showing up for myself first.
Let me explain…

By giving to others first, I depleted my energy reserve considerably. What was leftover was little or nothing to give myself.
From that depleted place, it was a struggle to find new sources of creation and inspiration. No one was really getting the best version of me, primarily myself.
Playing that role left me tired, resentful, hungry, and desperate.
Of course, I loved witnessing the benefits of my passion poured into others. Truthfully, those works fill my cup in unimagined ways. But, from a dry place it is hard to manifest our own true purpose.
Isn’t it time we get more plugged in to ourself?
YES?
You are probably asking how does that actually happen?
Stick with me here…
I believe it starts with a willingness to find your own kind of ‘ART,’ whatever that may be.
Before you start saying I am not creative, let’s keep an open mind about how we actually define art.
LIFE IS ART
Look around, everything is a creation. Each of us have unique gifts that are worth sharing.
That understanding has inspired my own wholehearted passion for creating my own version of art.
For me, it is through painting.
For you, it can be anything you choose.
Writing, knitting, music, exercise, crafting, jewelry making, coloring, volunteering…
Really, anything that makes you feel more drawn to your own inner fire.

If you choose to take any action, it should feel aligned. Please don’t pick something that feels like a chore.
The key ingredient is to find an activity that is enjoyable and sustainable.
What I love about creating art is the way it can stir emotions for those experiencing it.

Painting is the path I chose to more closely connect with myself.
As I shared in my last blog post, it is a passionate pursuit that has developed with time and care.
It didn’t just happen.
Quite the opposite, in fact. I agonized over the process to even begin, much less create.

For ages, I just stood standing in concrete boots wishing for a miracle.
Of course, there were years of preparation, but the real discovery began with a choice to nurture the process. A commitment to quiet the soundtrack in my head that kept saying you aren’t good enough, smart enough, or talented enough.
Each false narrative a trap designed to keep me stuck in a loop.
Finding courage to take some action.
Finally, I pushed past the negative self-talk and just decided to go for it. Doing so, has opened many new doors.
I am grateful for that courage because the results have astounded me. Each new piece is like a portal to deeper connection.
Chaos Meditation was a series I began during a quiet, contemplative time.
The title itself embodies the essence of my emotive state.
Merriam-Webster defines Chaos: as a state of utter confusion; a confused mass or mixture; and Mediation: as a discourse intended to express its author’s reflections.

It is a series created from my own depths, inspired by true passion.
With intention and purpose, I thoughtfully selected colors to translate words I didn’t have.
The result is a collection of pieces carefully layered with texture and depth.

Each one seems to speak a different, but connected language.
There is an organized balance, which hopefully compels you to look more closely.
A look within can reveal many things.
- It can incite emotion
- It can offer clarity.
- It can provide comfort.
- It can give meaning.
Whatever the case may be, each direction forms a new connection.
It gives us a narrative to share from.
What else in life can inspire us or stir a reaction like art can?
The answer is individual.
Each of us can choose what works for our own circumstance and belief. There is not a right or wrong answer.
Simply, we all should do more of what we love.
I encourage each of you to take action on the things that inspire you to move forward and live more wholeheartedly.
The next right step is a noble pursuit.
Are you ready to begin exactly where you are?
