Jason Hopcus is a visionary artist by training, experience, and passion for over 20 years.
His curious, entrepreneurial spirit serves as motivation to better understand how people live and work. With an undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University in design, merchandising, and business, Jason set forth to master his craft in the real estate and construction industries.
A natural eye for visual aesthetic, balance, and scale has allowed Jason to design and renovate simple, comfortable spaces; quickly rising to the successful completion of multimillion-dollar projects.
At age 37, a major change in life circumstance precipitated an unexpected mental health crisis, causing a dramatic shift in Jason’s direction. Through a series of painful setbacks, he redirected his energies on recovery and healing.
With a profound desire to help us better connect to ourselves and others, Jason used this opportunity to advocate for the voiceless living with mental health challenges. His passionate pursuit is fostered through his work with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, state and local governments, and various health organizations throughout Colorado.
After nearly 8 years as a dedicated mental health supporter, Jason chooses to pour his love of art, design, and beauty into helping others in a more expansive way. These married passions inspire his latest endeavor of self-expression. Jason picked up his own paint brush.
By training with some of the country’s most influential artists and artistic teachers, Jason creates from diverse experience. He is fueled by an enthusiasm for tangible beauty, and his internal drive to make a difference.
Jason sees “Life as Art”. Each of us is a living, functional expression.
His series ‘Chaotic Meditation’ and ‘A Quiet Contemplation’, proves there is a delicate balance between beauty and deeper understanding. It invites and inspires the viewer to experience individual emotion and discovery. His work naturally appeals to our sensibilities, evoking a feeling of familiarity mixed with freshness.
Through painting, Jason combines his passion for mental health awareness with his creation of art by donating a portion of all art sales to the non-profit organization, ‘The Connection Project’. The Connection Project was founded to build deeper connections to ourselves and others by expanding our definition of community and the impact it can have on our lives.
